It has been almost two and a half years since I first started Bookish Inspiration, and although I wasn’t consistently blogging most of that time, I have learned so much about writing and about myself as a reader. Most importantly, I have learned that I love writing about the books that I read and making that writing available for others who love to read. Reading is such a big part of my life and I have enjoyed getting to know others that feel the same way!
This is my 110th blog post. Looking back, I cringe at some of the ones I’ve written and love reading others. I guess that is all a part of the journey in growing as a writer. For 2021, I have set some goals for myself that will hopefully help my posts continue to improve and reach more readers.
Here are the top 10 blog post from Bookish Inspiration:
This post is an older one, but really took off recently. These are some of the best books I have ever read. They are well told stories that made me feel something, which is what all good books should do.
This was one of the first posts that I wrote. Fall is my absolute favorite season – I love all things fall, including books! These stories have all the fall vibes that make you want to curl up with a hot cup of tea and read all afternoon.
Every year, no matter how long my TBR list is already, I always get so excited about new releases. I may have 20 books sitting on my shelf waiting for me, but I already have 20 more in library holds, waiting for their publishing date! Here are some of the ones that I was excited for in 2019.
I have always loved to hear what people are reading, and listening to podcasts is the perfect way to find out about new books and backlist books as well. Some of my favorite books this year I first heard about on a podcast. There are so many different shows you can listen to. Here, I listed my top 5 bookish podcasts. I hope you enjoy listening to these as well!
I recently decided to revise this post and when I went back to look at it, I realized that I could only revise the introduction. The books that were on the list were still the ones I continually go back to. These 5 books are so different, yet resonated with me and I find I reread them depending on what is going on in my life.
This was the post where I really sat down to come up with a rating system for myself and where I looked back at all of the 4 and 5 star books for me in 2018. It was a good reading year – 27 in all!
I discovered audiobooks as a way to get more books read very late in the game. They never could hold my attention. Then, when listening to reading podcasts, I realized that many people listen to audiobooks at higher speeds. This was game-changing for me. I now listen to books at either 1.5X or 2.0X the speed and I find that my mind wanders less and I am able to get through more books that way. Here are 7 books that I really enjoyed listening to.
When I first started writing Bookish Inspiration, I considered it a lifestyle blog and wrote about lots of things. Today, I am mostly writing about books, although once in a while I still post recipes, especially yummy drinks. Here is a delicious fall cocktail. Enjoy!
Those were the top ten posts of all time. It was really fun going through them and I hope you enjoyed it as well.
Here’s to another great year of blogging – and reading!
