The Power of Writing It Down:  A Simple Habit to Unlock Your Brain and Reimagine Your Life
by Allison Fallon
Released on January 12, 2021

Writers know that having to put words to paper forces you to clarify your thoughts.  Fallon’s book takes this a step further and asserts that in only 5-20 minutes a day, your reflective writing can help you create better habits, find fresh motivation and relieve anxiety and depression.  She also offers tips on how to get started writing and stay motivated throughout the year.

Chatter:  The Voice in Our Head, Why It Matters & How to Harness It
by Ethan Kross
Released on January 26, 2021

We are much harder on ourselves than we would ever be with others.  Think about it.  Would you ever say to a friend what sometimes goes through your own mind about yourself?  Probably not.  That is the focus of this book.  The chatter that is in our heads has the power to affect our moods, our health, and our productivity.  Kross offers us tools in this book to help us reframe our thoughts and think more positively.

Think Again:  The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know
by Adam Grant
Released on February 2, 2021

In these polarized times, sometimes knowing what you know is not important.  It’s trying to understand what you don’t know that can make all the difference.  We are a country fixed in our mindsets, more interested in proving that we are right and surrounding ourselves with others who agree with us rather than seeking out dissenting points of view that may challenge our thought processes.  This book is an invitation to take a hard look at views that are no longer serving us well, and prize mental flexibility over foolish consistency.

No Pain, No Gaines:  The Good Stuff Doesn’t Come Easy
by Chip Gaines
Released on March 16, 2021

I have always been a Chip and Joanna fan, and I have already read their first book, The Magnolia Story, which is a story of how they met and their early years.  (See Sweet Romances)

This is a book about how Chip got to where he is and how he purposely surrounds himself with people who will raise him up and challenge him.  He asserts that it is hard, but so important to build a network of trusted people that will help you achieve your dreams!

Don’t Overthink It:  Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing and Bring More Joy to Your Life
by Anne Bogel
Released in March, 2020

Indecision is something that I struggle with personally.  I am always worrying, what is the right thing to do?  What if I make the wrong decision?  This over-worry takes up a tremendous amount of time and energy.  Anne Bogel says that it doesn’t have to be this way!  Even though we feel we are hard-wired to worry over every decision, we can train ourselves not to.  Sounds like something that will improve my life, for sure!

Everything is Figureoutable
by Marie Forleo
Released in September, 2019

Not a new release book, but definitely new to me and a title that surely gives us the hope that we can do anything we set our minds to!  She calls it a philosophy of relentless optimism, which I love!  Forleo asserts that her strategies will make it 42% more likely that you will achieve your goals, and that you will learn to deal with criticism and  the impostor syndrome.  I plan to listen to this one on audio very soon!

I hope that you find these titles will help you as you continue to create your best life.  Here’s to a happier and more productive 2021!
