One of the fondest memories of my Christmas past is snuggling on the couch with my two kids and reading fun, and festive holiday books. Every November, I would dig through basement boxes looking for these books, wrap them in colorful paper and ribbons and set them out to be ready for December 1. They each took turns choosing a book to unwrap and read together. It was special because these books were only out in our house in December. After Christmas, they were boxed back up and put in the basement. The kids had fun trying to guess which book was underneath the wrapping and they looked forward to hearing their favorite stories year after year.
Christmas is family time; a time for creating warm memories and following family traditions. This year, try a new bookish tradition and start a Christmas book countdown. It’s a great way to share your love of reading, and spend some quality time with your little ones, in an otherwise hectic holiday season.
This list of books below include some of our family favorites and some new titles, too. They also make great Christmas presents!
Happy reading!

This is a great idea! For this year, the children already have more traditional advent calendars with chocolates but I really would like to try this in the next years.
