It’s September! Here are 5 bookish links that I’ve found and loved this month:
- Barnes and Noble NYT Article – Oh no! First the Shop Around the Corner, and now Barnes and Noble? It is kind of sad that bookstores around the country are struggling the way they are. We have one small independent book store in my community and I always try and go to support them. Let’s save our bookstores!
- Best Podcasts – per the editors of Real Simple. I love listening to podcasts and am always looking for new ones to try. I listen to Oprah’s Super Soul from this list already. She has some great interviews on her list. One podcast I really loved that is not on here is Serial. Did you hear that their new season is coming out soon? YAY!
- Dying art of thank you notes– I am always preaching to my kids to remember to write thank you notes. I think it is a small gesture that makes a big difference. This article talks about a study that showed how thank you notes made the recipients feel. I have been trying to remember to focus on the positive with my new Gratitude Journal habit- here is another way to remember to be grateful.
- What Should I Read Next Book Recommendations – I thought this was a fun app. You simply type in a book you love and other books that are similar pop up! If you are not sure what to read next, you should try this out.
- Judging a book by its cover – This is a fun article about how book covers are chosen in the publishing phase. It’s something I never thought about – that there would be multiple cover choices for authors to choose from. What fun this would be! Take a look at the design journey of 10 book covers.
