Living a Hygge-filled Life

August 6, 2018

If you haven’t read The Little Book of Hygge, (pronounced HOO-gah) by Meik Wiking, you can check out my review here.  It gives an overview of what the concept of hygge is. I guess I’m a little behind the times as the book was published in 2017, but the way I look at it, it’s never too late to add some happiness to your life!

I think that living a bookish life does include some Hygge – it’s about appreciating the beauty in life and taking time to enjoy it, which is why a lot of us read.  It’s about surrounding ourselves with beautiful, and comfortable objects; it’s about making time to really be present with ourselves and with the ones that we love.

I am kind of obsessed about Hygge, to tell you the truth.  It’s something I have been missing in my life. Sometimes I get so preoccupied with work and other responsibilities that it’s all I do, it’s all I think about, and it’s all I spend time on.  That isn’t good for anyone. So my new resolution is to spend some time making things around me more Hyggelig. (Hygge-like) I want to work on creating spaces that are more comfortable and relaxing, on cooking new delicious foods and mixing new drinks  and most importantly,  practicing mindfulness.  In order to truly be more happy, I believe we have to start there.

I know that by paying attention to these things, I can lead a happier and more fulfilled life.  I hope that you’ll join me on this journey to creating more comfort and connection in your life and that you will share how you are incorporating those things into your life as well!

Thanks so much for reading this post.  Until next time!
